A date on the floor is held when we confirm it in writing, not before.
These are the terms for anyone who wants to rent a climbing gym for a commercial shoot, a stills day or an event in Brooklyn. Nothing is bought on this website. You ask, we walk the wall with you, we quote, and only a signed confirmation turns that into a booking.
Fifteen sections. The numbers in the margin are the only index. Section 06 is the one most crews ask about, and the one we would rather you read before you send the shot list.
01 When these terms apply
These terms took effect on September 29, 2026 and were last updated that day. They cover your use of brooklynboulders.us and any inquiry sent through it. A booking you confirm is governed by these terms as they stood on the day you signed the confirmation, plus anything written into that confirmation.
02 Who you are dealing with

"We" and "the studio" mean that business. "You" means the person or production company that sends an inquiry or signs a confirmation.
03 What the site does, and what it does not
The site describes a working climbing gym offered as a film location rental in Brooklyn NY, a stills location, a place for athlete portraits and a climbing gym event venue. It lets you read about the walls and floor, look up a plan in the shoot finder, chat with the floor desk and send an inquiry.
It does not sell gym memberships, day passes, climbing classes or gear. It does not take bookings or payments by itself. The shoot finder gives a first answer from a table of common requests; it is a starting point, not a commitment that a particular setup is allowed on your date.
04 An inquiry is not an order
Nothing is sold or paid for on this website. There is no cart and no checkout. Any figure, range or duration you read here or in a first reply is an estimate to help you plan. It is not a binding quote.
An inquiry becomes a booking in four steps:
You send the date, the shot list or run of show, the crew or guest count and the walls you want.
We answer with what the wall can do and, where it helps, arrange a recce visit by email.
We send a written quote in USD naming the date, hours, walls, crew limit and any conditions.
You accept it in writing and we countersign a booking confirmation. Only then is the date held.
05 How the floor is priced
All prices are quoted in US dollars (USD). There is no published rate card, because two shoots on the same wall can need very different things. The basis for each kind of booking:
- Stills location hire: half-day or full-day block, quoted after the recce by crew size and walls used.
- Film and video location hire: full-day block with load-in and strike counted, quoted by crew size and power draw.
- Athlete portrait session: per session, floor spotter included, quoted on the request.
- Events on the floor: per event, quoted by headcount, hours and whether climbing stays open.
- Event reportage: a coverage block added to an event, quoted by hours on the floor.
- Recce visit: arranged by email before booking; no charge is stated until confirmed in writing.
A quote changes if the booking changes: more crew than stated, extra hours, another wall, a route re-set, overtime past the confirmed strike time. We tell you in writing before any change is charged. Taxes that apply in New York are shown on the quote.
06 The booking guarantee
Once a booking confirmation is countersigned, these are the things we hold to. Each is within our control, which is why we can put it in writing.
The date is yours. We do not double-book the walls named in your confirmation for the hours it names, and we do not move you to accommodate a later request.
The wall you booked is clear. For a stills or film booking, at least one wall is kept free of public climbers for the whole booking, as the confirmation states.
A spotter is on the floor. Every move above head height is spotted or roped by our staff. That costs you no extra and it will not slow you down much.
The routes are the routes you saw. If you asked a week or more ahead for specific holds or colours in frame, and we agreed in writing, those routes stay up for your date.
If we cancel, you get your money back. If we cancel or cannot provide the floor for a reason on our side, anything you have paid us for that booking is returned in full, or moved to another date if you prefer.
The guarantee does not cover things outside the building's control, such as a utility outage or an order from a public authority. In those cases we offer the next workable date first and a refund of anything paid if none suits you.
07 Rules on the floor
These are conditions of every booking. The most common trouble we see is a crew arriving with a shot list written for a cyc and finding the best wall faces the wrong way for their key light. A recce fixes that. The rules below fix most of the rest.
No talent climbs on camera without a studio spotter present. No exceptions for experienced climbers.
No haze, pyro or open flame anywhere near the walls. Chalk in the air is the only atmosphere we allow.
Routes are not re-set for a shoot on less than a week's notice. Setters work to a schedule.
Stands on the mats are sandbagged. The mats are soft and a C-stand on them walks.
Drones fly indoors only, under the trusses, with a named pilot agreed in the confirmation. Details are on the film page.
Nothing is fixed to the walls, holds or trusses without our rigger's say-so. Tape on the floor comes up at strike.
08 What you may not do on this site
- Send inquiries or chat messages in someone else's name, or with details you have no right to give us.
- Use the form or chat to advertise, to send bulk messages or to deliver anything harmful.
- Scrape the site, probe it for weaknesses or try to reach parts of it that are not linked publicly.
- Copy the photographs or text for your own marketing; see section 09.
09 Who owns the words and pictures
The text, photographs, logo, stamp mark and layout of this site belong to Brooklynboulders or are used under license. You may share a link and quote a line with credit. You may not reproduce the photographs or pass off the marks as your own.
What you shoot on the floor during a confirmed booking belongs to you or your client. The confirmation may ask that the studio name be kept off-screen, or credited, depending on what you agreed; nothing else about your footage is ours.
10 What we do not promise
The site is provided as is. Descriptions of light, lens behavior and wall angles come from working on the floor, but daylight changes with the season and routes change on the setting schedule, so a photograph here is not a promise of how the wall looks on your date. We do not warrant that the site is free of errors or always available, or that the shoot finder's answer fits your exact setup. The recce and the written confirmation are what count.
11 The limit of our liability
For use of this website, we are not liable for any loss arising from reading it or relying on it. For a confirmed booking, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for that booking. We are not liable for lost profits, a lost client, or the cost of a re-shoot, except where the law does not allow that to be limited. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Your production is responsible for its own crew, talent and equipment, and the confirmation may ask for proof of insurance.
12 When we refuse or withdraw access
We may block anyone who breaks section 08, and we may decline an inquiry that asks for something we do not host, such as a wedding, a party unrelated to climbing, or a setup that needs haze. On the floor, a studio spotter or floor manager may stop a take, or end a booking, if a rule in section 07 is broken or someone is at risk. If we end a booking for that reason, section 6.5 does not apply.
13 The law that applies
These terms and any booking run under the law of NY, United States. A dispute is heard in the courts of BROOKLYN. Before anyone goes to court, write to us; most disagreements about a booking are settled in a phone call.
14 When these terms change
A change is published on this page with a new effective date at the top. A booking already confirmed keeps the terms that stood when it was signed, unless both sides agree otherwise in writing. How we handle personal data is set out separately in the privacy notice and the cookie ledger.
